Who we are

Klaus Fuxjäger was born and raised in Austria. After extended travelling he had a chance to watch a Cinematographer at work shooting a skiing commercial. Klaus decided to quit studying Engineering and turn his Photography hobby into a profession. Moving to Rome, he sought Fellini’s playground Cinecitta’. After 3 years in the local film industry he enrolled in Rome’s famous CSC, finally graduating from Prague’s renowned film academy FAMU, where he has been invited to teach since 2012.

As a professional Director of Photography, Klaus has worked on both Hollywood blockbusters such as Van Helsing, A Knight’s Tale, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and XXX; European art house movies such as The Past, Lizard’s Tale, Blue Tiger and commercially mainstream comedies, Expulsion from Paradise, Grapes, and I Served the King of England.

Shooting TVC’s, Klaus has worked worldwide with acclaimed directors Ben Wee, Tak Kuroha, Rojo, Michel Meyer, Tim Kendall, Nobrain, Anton Josef (amongst others) for global brands such as T-mobile, Telefonica, Vodafone, ING, Unicredit, Panasonic, Tuborg on assignments for international agencies like Saatchi, Loe Burnett, Euro RSCG, Ogilvy, TBWA

Lending his creative input and artistic vision, Klaus has contributed to many films, recognized and awarded at festivals: Berlinale, Camerimage, Czech Lions, Art Directors Club of Europe Awards, Golden Hammer Awards, to name a few. He has earned himself an impressive list of wins and nominations including: Manaki Brothers, Czech Cinematographers Association, FAMU, Taormina.

In 2013 Klaus was short-listed for nomination for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars for the film The Third Half

He is fluent in German, English, Italian and Czech; he teaches courses in cinematography at FAMU in Prague, RIFS in Rome and LMTA in Vilnius.
